How to Clean and Sanitize Wooden Toys
Wooden toys can be a fun and educational addition to any home. They come in a variety of shapes, sizes, and colors that young children will love. Unfortunately, they are also prone to dirt, grime, and germs that can cause a host of health problems. Therefore, it's important to keep them clean and sanitized. Here's how:
Step 1: Gather Supplies
Before you begin, gather the necessary supplies. You'll need a soft cloth for cleaning, a mild detergent or soap, a sanitizing solution, (equal parts water and white vinegar will work well) and maybe a soft brush for light scrubbing if your toys have any hard stuck on grime.
Step 2: Clean
Once you have all the necessary supplies, it's time to start cleaning. Begin by wiping down the toy with a clean, damp (not soaked) cloth. If there are any sticky patches, use a mild detergent or soap to help remove it. Then, use a soft brush to very gently scrub away any dirt or grime. Make sure to get into all the nooks and crannies.
*Please note, scrubbing can scuff and scratch painted surface so please be gentle and go back to a cloth if you notice any scratching.
Step 3: Sanitize
After you've cleaned the toy, it's time to sanitize. Using a sanitizing solution specifically designed for wooden toys, or alternatively, Vinegar. Vinegar is an all-natural disinfectant, making it perfect for cleaning kid’s toys. Wipe the entire surface. Allow the toy to air dry and then give it a final wipe-down to remove any excess solution.
Step 4: Store Properly
Finally, make sure to store your wooden toy properly. Keep it in a dry place, away from direct sunlight, and away from any water sources. This will help ensure that it remains clean and sanitized for future use.
Cleaning and sanitizing wooden toys can help keep them safe and hygienic for your little one to enjoy. With the right supplies and a bit of elbow grease, you can keep them in top shape for years to come.
